New Speed Record

Y1 D205 – Kerbal Space Center

Valentina Kerman and Bill Kerman flew the new X-1B to a speed of mach 1.71, or 530 m/s at 7,200 meters ASL, before the engine ran out of fuel. The vehicle was unable to make it back to land, but splashed down near the Island Airfield. The vehicle was recovered and brought back to the KSC.

Bob Kerman earned a Mach 1 ribbon as well as Splashdown ribbon for his achievements. Valentina Kerman also earned a Mach 1 ribbon.

Another similar flight is scheduled with the NX1C.
